Global Lingerie Trends 2016

 

Interfiliere have the leading international intimates, swimwear and performance sourcing and fabric’s platforms, aka amazing global trade shows. They are also celebrating 30 years of delighting us, educating us and inspiring us with all things lingerie.

They have shows in Paris, New York, Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Paris is always the biggest lingerie trade show with 450 labels and this year they 130 new brands will be exhibiting!

Together with Trend Union they recently released the lingerie trends for 2016/17.

Something that gets me every time is lingerie that tells a story, any business that tells a story. Life is a story, a journey so when I see upcoming launches and trends I expect to be taken on a journey.

Spring Summer 2016

Represents the 5 archetypes of women.

Nymph

Soft trends with a focus on nature and detail in the cuts and lines, to show transparency… like the earthly woman.

Odalisque uses strong colors and represents a slave, a mistress who has to impress, it has an oriental theme and uses silk and prints.

Mermaid, both attractive and seductive, fish skins, faded brightness and represents the ageless woman

Amazon is strength, a fighter and protector. It has comfort, straight lines, dynamic geometric patterns, simple clear lines, soft and stretch materials.

Legends are all about power … Venus the goddess, power by color, metallic oversize pieces.

Autumn winter 2016

EVOLUTION

Enchanted

Textured white, harvest red with a strong focus on detail and blurred lines. Romantic organic patterns.

Charmed

Floral, but beyond the stereotype that we are used to, we will see a new approach to how designers work with them.

Liberated

Breaks away from the obvious inspirations for lace and other classics, this is a concept of modern multi functional lingerie anchored in urban cultures.

Empowered

Lingerie as a part of the female seductive armour that is extravagant, festive and intended to be noticed. 

 

Understanding the buying trends for the global woman.

 

The European woman, want seduction and comfort together. They buy lingerie for themselves.

45% of European women coordinate their lingerie with their entire outfits.

The American woman is connected and informed, the want comfort and great fabric.

The Chinese women are all about the well being of their body, materials that feel good support and shaping.

Think romantic, princess, and aware.

Prediction.

It is expected that we will see a huge increase in swimwear sales in Asian. So it is a great opportunity for swimwear labels in the Asian market.

Interfiliere mentioned that Australian women are similar to American women in terms of how we view lingerie….
