15 Most Inspiring Entrepreneurial Quotes of All Time

Entrepreneurial endeavours are usually admired by those watching on, especially when they succeed, but when they don't, the entrepreneur is often the subject of harsh criticism. This fear of criticism stops many from taking the first step but if it were not for those people who were brave enough to bring their dreams into life we would all be still living in caves.

Entrepreneurs, like any others in the community, need inspiration to carry on. These 15 quotes have been hand picked  to encourage the continuation of entrepreneurial endeavour despite overwhelming odds that may have to be overcome before success is finally achieved:

  1. Leadership is a quality that is required by all entrepreneurs and when Steve Jobs, an American businessman and co-founder of Apple and Pixar said, “You can't ask customers what they want and then try to give it to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new,” has proved to be as true for governments as it does for the individual.
  2. Whereas the old saying, 'Rome wasn't built in a day' may well be true, so is the quote by Napoleon Hill, an American author and forerunner of personal development of the individual, when he stated, “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way”.
  3. Actor, comedian and thinker, Bill Cosby, got it right when he came up with the quote, “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure”.
  4. The American industrialist and entrepreneur who founded the Ford motor car company and pioneered mass production, Henry Ford, is worth listening to, especially when he said, “I do not believe a man can ever leave his business. He ought to think of it by day and dream of it by night”.
  5. Henry Ford also contributed with another gem when he said, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success”.
  6. Discipline is a required attribute for all who are striving to better themselves and when motivational speaker and author Jim Rohn, said, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment,” nothing could be closer to the truth.
  7. Dale Carnegie of 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' fame also made us think about the power of our thoughts when he advised, “Act enthusiastic and you will be enthusiastic”.
  8. If you don't make the effort, nothing will change and when Alan Scott said, “If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got,” he nailed it more precisely than any other had done before him.
  9. Nobody can dispute the authority former professional basketball player and motivational speaker, Michael Jordan has when encouraging the betterment of oneself. His quote, “I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying,” is a valuable lesson for all to abide by.
  10. Another sure fire secret to success in the often quoted 'rat race' of today is the cold hard fact brought to light by Jack Welch, American businessman, when he said, “If you don't have a competitive advantage, don't compete”.
  11. American inventor and scientist Thomas Edison cleverly observed, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work”. He also held out hope to those who get back up and try again if the first effort failed to produce their desired outcome when he said, “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work”.
  12. To complement Edison's contribution, Johann Wolfgang von Geothe a German doctor and writer of last century pointed out that, “What is not started will never get finished”.
  13. Author Mark Twain, was also inspiring when he stated, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great”.
  14. An anonymous student in a class being conducted by Warren G. Tracy has been quoted as saying, “Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can't”.
  15. The last and possibly the most important quote of all can be left to British war time prime minister Winston Churchill when he said, “If I had my way, I would write the word 'insure' upon the door of every cottage and upon the blotting book of every public man, because I am convinced, for sacrifices so small, families and estates can be protected against catastrophes which would otherwise smash them up forever”.

What would be the use of putting so much time an effort into your dream if all was to be lost through your untimely death, or suffering, of an illness or injury that would prevent you from carrying out any further work that would see your plans succeed? Life insurance can guarantee your life's work can live on in your absence.
